A cheap website, done properly
$500 from a template, or $250 to fix the site you already have. One payment, no monthly fee, the domain in your name. Here is what you get, and what a cheap site should never cut.
Cheap is a fair thing to want. A small business with no website does not need a $10,000 build to start getting found, and most do not need a monthly retainer either.
The trouble is that a lot of cheap websites are cheap in the wrong places. They look fine on the day, then break on a phone, load slowly, sit on a domain somebody else owns, or quietly bill you every month for as long as the site exists. Cheap should mean a small price, not a small site.
What cheap should still include
Five things not to give up for the price
It works on a phone
Most of your customers will only ever see it on a phone. If it is not built for that first, it is not cheap, it is broken.
It loads fast
A site that takes ten seconds loses most of the people who tapped on it. Small, quick pages cost nothing extra to build properly.
The domain is in your name
Your domain is roughly $15 to $20 a year, bought by you and owned by you. A web company that holds your domain holds your business address.
No surprise monthly fee
Many website builders and agencies charge every month for as long as the site exists. Ours is one payment, and site care is optional.
Google can find it
Your business details, the services you offer and where you work, set up so Google understands them. Pretty but invisible is not a website.
What it costs
Our cheapest options, in plain dollars
$500, from a template
One of our proven layouts rebuilt with your photos, your words and your colours. One to three days, two rounds of changes. Most small businesses start here.
$250, a fix
Already have a site? One specific problem properly sorted: mobile, speed, HTTPS or a single page. Often all an old site needs.
$0 until it is live
You see a free mockup of your own site first. You pay once, after it is live and you are happy. If you do not like the mockup, it has cost you nothing.
Optional care from $20 a month
Hosting, backups and security if you want it. Cancel any time and keep the site and the files.
Cheap versus doing it yourself
When a website builder makes more sense
If you enjoy that kind of thing and have a free weekend, a drag and drop builder can work. Most charge monthly, and the real cost is the time and the site that never quite gets finished. We wrote an honest guide to building one yourself if you want to try.

Fair questions
The things people ask
What is the cheapest way to get a website?
A free website builder costs nothing up front but usually charges monthly to use your own domain and remove their branding, and you build it yourself. Ours starts at a one off A$500 with the work done for you and no monthly fee.
Is a $500 website any good?
It can be, if it is built for phones, loads fast, sits on a domain you own and tells Google what you do. Ours are built from layouts we have already tested, which is how the price stays low without cutting those.
Are there any ongoing costs?
Your domain, roughly $15 to $20 a year, paid by you directly. Site care is optional from $20 a month. Nothing else.
Is a website tax deductible?
For most Australian businesses a website is a claimable business expense, and you get a tax invoice with every job. Check with your accountant for your own situation.

Tell us the business name and what you do. We build a mockup of your own site and send it over. If you do not like it, that is the end of it and it has cost you nothing.
